"I've been using St. Ives for a couple of years and have loved all of the scents of the hand lotions. I recently bought a new bottle and do not like the smell at all. Please go back to the tried and true formulas ... newer is not always better."

"Don't like new formula"

"I have been using this product for 10 years or more and was so disappointed to realize the formula has changed. It is oily, not as moisturizing and even the scent is completely different. PLEASE go back to the old formula. I can't believe it was changed without even any indication on the packaging. I thought I was crazy at first or got a bad bottle. My hands have been so dry the past couple months and now I realize it is because of the new formula. Please change it back."

"What happened to old formulas?"

"I've been using St. Ives for years. I bought this formula because it appears the "skin smoothing" formula has been discontinued. It feels heavier on my skin and the fragrance is way too strong for a body lotion. I wish when new products are introduced it doesn't mean the end of the old ones. As always I appreciate the absence of parabens/phtalates."

"I am relieved to read that I'm not the only one disappointed with the new formula St Ives Collagen Elastin. I used the Extra Dry Skin variety for about 10 years and it was really the only stuff that worked for me. Absolutely amazing product. But then suddenly they replaced it with this terrible oily new formula.
Please, St. Ives, just go back to the original. Keep the new packaging or whatever but please give us back the old one."

"I agree with the other customers. I've been using this product since I was 16 years old! 25 years! It took me several years to find the right scent I liked after you changed it, but would love the old formula! I prefer LOVE or LIKE for sure. My husband loves my skin and says something about it everyday! The quality of the product is good, but don't care for the fragrances. The choices smell awful. Well, not to my liking anyway. I so miss the original fragrance! Can you do a Limited Edition or Blast form the Past type campaign? I would buys a case! Also, more portable sizes of it for the gym. I need a flip cap. A descent size bottle as I do my whole body. Not just the "dry" areas or just legs."

"I've been using this product since I was a little girl. My mom used to only buy this brand and I loved the way it smelled and felt on my skin (thick and not dehydrating with alcohol... like it is now). Why change something that good to begin with!? Because it’s cheaper for you to fill it with alcohol? I hate to change lotions, but I want a lotion that will hydrate, not dry. Very disappointed to leave a once loved brand. Let me know if you decide to fix your mistake and go back to the old formula… I will be the first to buy again."

"The new Collagen Elastin formula is awful!!! Please go back to the previous formula! I've use this lotion for at leat 10 years and it was perfect for my skin which is typically dry. The new formula leaves my skin feeling as if I haven't used any lotion. After application my skin feels dry like paper. I notice a difference in the look of my skin over the time I've used it as well. I would love to continue to support St. Ives but I cannot continue to buy a product that does not work for me."

"St. Ives I'm so upset at what you've done to my favorite lotion! I've used this product over 10 years and it always was pleasant to use and kept my skin so soft. Now it's like covering your body in wax. The consistency is awful and makes me cringe when applying it. It also doesn't keep my skin soft as in the past. PLEASE go back to the original formula. The fruity scent you changed to from the fresh herbal scent years ago also needs to go! I won't be buying any of your products again until you make this right and if you care about your customers do it soon!"

"this lotion was the only one i used for years (15+)!!! the lotion i am using right now is a CVS brand, needless to say, it's not the same and now my youthful looks i had with collagen elastin are quickly disappearing, so if ST IVES won't wake up and look at all the negative reviews, then i will go ahead and make my own!"

"New Formula - not good"

"I have used the Collagen Elastin lotion for at least 15 years. But am seriously considering changing. I do not like the new formula (it's new, but definitely not improved!). It's not creamy, it takes at least 3 pumps to get as much coverage as I got with 1 - 2 pumps before. It feels greasy, the consistency is almost gel like. Overall not as good a product. I don't look forward to having to find a new lotion. I had purchased several bottles when they were on sale, I will have to return them now. As some previous commenters have asked, PLEASE go back to the old formula. Is a "new" formula worth losing customers over?"

"I have been a loyal customer to St. Ives Collegan Elastin body lotion for almost 20 years. I loved the lotion and never used anything else and recommended it to everyone. But now w/ the "improved" the formula, St. Ives has definitely lost a customer here.
It's greasy.
It leaves a waxy film residue.
It is not quick absorbing.
It is NOT moisturizing at all.

I used the new "Improved formula" for 3 days and then threw away the whole bottle, that's how bad it was. It's so upsetting because previous formulas were great. I wish St. Ives would just leave a good thing alone.
Previous formulas were perfect..and even better, I use St. Ives b/c they do not test on animals or use animal products....I'm very sad with the move they've made.
I even tried using ALL the other formulas that were available at my store, ALL were just as bad.
St. Ives- you're losing loyal customers over this change."

"If only I could give zero stars. I've been a loyal user of the Collagen Elastin lotion for 13 years. I loved this product so much, I've converted many people to it over the years. My husband never used lotion, but once he tried the CE lotion he used it almost every day. Now I'm embarrassed that so many people, on my recommendation, will waste money on a product that does not work. I'm so dismayed with the new formula. I don't know if there is a new cheap chemical on the market that has resulted in the incredibly diminished quality of this formerly superior product. I do know that I can not use it. I tried, I really did, but somehow it manages to be greasy and chalky at the same time. The old formula was thick and creamy, and the new formula is thin and liquid. It definitely does nothing close to moisturizing my skin. It just sits on top of it. I spent this weekend testing all of the lotions in my pharmacy and none of them even came close to the comfort that the old formula gave. But since the new formula is so horrible, I had to switch brands. I hope St Ives sees how poorly this new formula is received, realizes how many loyal customers they are losing and reverts back to the old one. I would gladly come back to them if they bring back the quality we are used to."

"I have used this product for more years than I can remember. It was awesome and I know because I am a lotion fanatic. The new formula is awful. It is greasy and must be reapplied to several times. If it gets wet, it turns to slime. I am very sad about this change because I must now go on a new search for the perfect lotion. Please go back to the good formula!"

"This new formula is absolutely terrible. I'm an African-American female with dry skin and I've been using St. Ives Collagen Elastin lotion for at least 13 years. I had always enjoyed it because I did not need to combine the lotion with other products and it always kept my skin well moisturized, without being greasy. This new formula seems to suck moisture out of my skin and I am constantly re-applying this lotion with no positive results. I bought two bottles and will return the unopened one and will begin searching for a new quality moisturizing product. Please, please, please return to the old formula.... there was nothing wrong with it, so why mess with a good thing?? (While I'm disappointed in the new formula, I'm glad that other long-term users have the same sentiment- maybe this should tell you guys something)."

"Why Change a Great Thing?"

"I rarely write to a company to complain. Seriously, I don't know that I ever have actually. But I just had to this time -- you've taken my beloved, all-time favorite lotion and ruined it. I have used this lotion EVERY single day since high school (I'm now in my 30s). I've recommended it to everyone I know, especially when they comment on how soft my skin is. I've loved this lotion more than any other lotion I've ever used (and I've tried many). This has been the one and only lotion I've ever liked the feel of on my hands -- everything else was always too greasy. And now . . . I buy the "new and improved" formula, hoping for the best, but getting a now-blah lotion. The texture is weird, and the smell is kind of off. It makes my hands feel sticky. Why change a product that has had faithful followers for literally decades? The original was great -- the new is comparable to the Jergens lotions that I consider sub-par. I'm so disappointed. Now I'm back on the hunt for a new brand. Please follow in the footsteps of other brands (i.e. Olay) who've listened to their customers when they've "improved" (ruined) a formula, and bring back the original!"

"I have used St Ives elastin lotion for about 25 years and just loved it, but lately the formula has been changed, and it is no longer a lotion, but more like a cream. It doesn't spread and cover my body as easily as it used to. I'll be purchasing a different lotion from now on."

"I have used St. Ives lotion for well over a decade, and I have recommended it to many friends. Many have asked how I remain wrinkle-free and how my hands stay so soft, and I've always shared my secret with them. No more.
The new formula is in NO way an improvement over the old formula. In fact, this formula has made St. Ives exactly like so many other nasty, greasy, heavy lotions on the market--except it doesn't even last as long. Within a couple of hours after applying this "new" formula, my skin feels dry again. With the old formula, my skin felt good all day.
I've talked with several friends who I got started on St. Ives, and the sentiment is unanimous. Everyone hates the new formula. From reading a few of the other reviews, it seems the sentiment is unanimous here, as well.
Coca-Cola learned from its "new formula" mistake and brought back Coke Classic. Here's hoping that St. Ives learns the same lesson and brings back the old formula. You might also consider firing the dolt who made the decision to change it in the first place."
